Introducing Project Rodeo Drive

In our last couple of posts we've introduced you to a few of the projects we have the privilege of working on here at House of Design, but there are still a few more that we'd like you to get acquainted with! It has been a busy month here with more projects on the go then ever and we think it's high time that we give you a little glimpse into another project we've been busy working on.

Project: Rodeo Drive
This is a VERY BIG project, the clients have just moved into a house and plan on renovating it from top to bottom. Our clients are completely aware of the extent of this project and have decided to complete the house in phases (which could last a few years). Right now, we're in our design phase where we discuss ALL the details and get our clients excited about whats to come. We're talking new casings, custom millwork, new floors, a custom kitchen, custom bathrooms... You name it, they're doing it - and oh boy does this house need it! The house has great bones and will be incredibly fun to work with, but currently looks like a bad rendition of 1980's Hollywood glam! Black floors, black casings around the windows, white walls... It hurts to talk about it, so I'll just share some before pictures with you so you get a better idea:

Here we have the existing Dining & Living Room. We plan to revitalize this dining room by adding fresh casings, mouldings and coffered ceilings. A gorgeous chandelier and recessed lighting will help brighten up this seemingly dark space. New floors will run throughout the main floor creating a sense of unity and making the space feel larger!

( Just a little teaser! )

Here we have the kitchen, where we believe the show "Kitchen Nightmares" got it's title from. Consider this gutted. New gorgeous Quartz countertops, custom millwork and cabinetry that will take advantage of the height of the space, a new island with a breakfast counter and all new appliances and custom display builtins will transform this unappetizing kitchen into a true gourmet space. Updated lighting, floors and window treatments will help completely transform this kitchen!

A little look into our inspiration for the new direction we'll be taking this kitchen into:

Here we have the existing Master Bedroom Ensuite. Yet another very lackluster space that is in dire need of an update if it's going to provide any sort of feeling of relaxation for the new home owners. Getting rid of the outdated tub surround and replacing it with a freestanding tub will open up the space. Custom vanities and a new layout with a gorgeous glass enclosed shower will open up the space while still providing adequate storage for the homeowners! Light colours, carerra marble, custom panelling and mirrors will illuminate the space and turn it into a bathroom worthy of being called a Master Ensuite!

( A little peek into our new master ensuite plan! )

Here are a few other areas that need some addressing:

( A taste of what we have in store )

We know, it seems overwhelming, but we have the perfect solution to turn this nightmare into the house of the clients' dreams. Check back soon to see some of the finishes, fixtures and plans we have in store for Project Rodeo Drive.

A Glimpse Into Project Bedford Park

It's has been a busy Winter at House of Design and the Spring is shaping out to be even busier. This week we're going to introduce you another new project we have on the go. This project is not about ripping out the entire house and starting from scratch, it's about working with pieces the clients have and jazzing up the space to suit this young couple and their adorable baby's growing needs.

Project Bedford Park:
The scoop on the scope of work....
The Foyer

First of all, how many of you have a foyer that looks like this? I'm guessing a big number of you use your foyer for throwing keys, and allowing boots and jackets to call "home, well guess what...
That's about to change!

What I'd love to do is change the flooring and create a beautiful tile design in this space, however the clients have decided to live with the travertine stone because they're major concern is the dust and debris they'd have to live with, even temporarily. The foyer is really an introduction to the house we we decided to glam up this space. We've designed a ridiculously gorgeous tufted bench for entry seating with lush accent cushions full of texture and pattern, I'm getting excited just thinking about it.

Needless to say, the house is getting a fresh coat of paint to take it from a basic traditional home into a more contemporary space that feels fresh, open and much cleaner, YES paint can do all that!
This is The Powder Room
A brand new vanity will find a new home here. But thats not it...this powder room will now feature new dramatic tone on tone with painted wainscotting - in a light grey, might I add

The Family Room

The clients love this room and use it more than any other space in their home so naturally this is our main area of concentration. We're keeping this sectional as is (it's almost brand new) however, we're removing the boring pillows it came with and flooding the sofa with colour and texture (client wants nothing to do with pattern). This is the best way to make a ready made sofa look custom.

We're adding a brand new custom wall unit will to help turn the unused fireplace wall into a focal point. We're building out around the fireplace and adding a wall mounted TV as well as plenty of storage will transform this room  into a functional family space. With toys hidden away within the storage unit, the family will be able to enjoy the more adult looking space.

We're also incorporating things like a new tufted coffee table/ottoman, new lustrous silk drapery panels - two tone side by side,  a custom wall of art and a dramatic area rug.

The Outdated Kitchen

I'm crossing my fingers and toes that our new kitchen quote gets approved. Client had no original intention to redo it but they deserve better, right? I think so!
We'll keep you updated on the kitchen....oh do I have some serious plans for this kitchen.

So please be sure to check back for more updates on Project Bedford Park and everything else we have going on here at House of Design. If any of this inspires you to start your dream design makeover or renovation, please don't hesitate to contact us to get the wheels turning today!
